i'm gonna eat so much candy
happy halloween!!!!!

hurrah! it's that magical time of year, were i eat so much candy i levitate into a ceiling fan. plus, some happy memories revolve around giraffe masks and this ghosty day.

but then, there were those halloweens when i was still in school...and get this...the sickos MADE us go to class. so, in the spirit of the holiday, this is some stuff i found from my 'condition of postmodernism' course notebook, dated halloween night...last year.

old newz

remember that show called rockstar supernova? well i dont because i didn't watch it, BUT i was fortunate enough to get to work on a video with fellow NYU-goers Mike Healey (director) and Kelly (editor/motion/compositing) on an official video for a musician named Ryan Star, who did pretty well on that show, so i hear. He's a really nice guy.

We did this over a year ago, i did all the scritch-scratch drawings. i didn't really know what i was doing....but since i never posted it...here it is anyway...my favorite part is the circus stuff

i did a thing!
this summer i got a really great chance to work with tons of other animators on this spot for sony bravia. it was a crazy huge outdoor stop motion shoot...but its not without some cheater-cheater CG.

the public could just walk right through the set the entire time. i remember one woman walked through, and touched every bunny she passed, almost ruining A TON of work, so everyone started screaming at her and then she was like "honnay, ill touch all the bunnies i want, you can't tell me what to do, no way, im touchin them bunnies..." and so on. that was a tense moment.

also, they hyped up this ad soooo much, (eh, maybe too much...) they actually released a teaser for it. check it out! we're all pale out of shape animators trying to do physical work in the sun. weird.

i found this background that i made last year, i guess it didn't make it into my film. perhaps it was the terrible mutation of perspective that made it impossible to animate on...details details....

shedding tears for affairs is a funny little thing

i've been cheating on my own art with a children's book. over this summer, I got the awesome opportunity to illustrate for a book....hooray! i still need some practice at this stuff, but i think i'm pretty happy with how it turned out. it was an ironic hiatus from my usual macabre, and I found it very challenging to make it look nice...

check out some of the pieces on my flickr!

childrens books remind me of my highschool years spent working at The Frugal Frigate Children's Bookstore. Maybe it was the free storytime cookies every saturday, or the fact that i was occasionally paid to dress like a pirate...it was without a doubt the best job i will ever have...i've peaked...it's surely only downhill from here.
